Psalm 140:12-13   "I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor.  (13)  Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence."

"I will get even, if its the last thing I do." Have you ever heard someone make that statement? Have you ever made that statement, or one similar to it?  There is within us the thought that we must try to maintain our own cause and keep the record even with others. Esau said it concerning his brother, Jacob. King Saul had that thought concerning David. But Saul's thoughts were based upon his jealousy when the people sang a song unto David concerning his bravery in going against Goliath. The Pharisees actually had that thought when they went against Jesus, seeking to rid the world of that man. We even see that they went so far as to crucify Jesus, thinking that would make them on a more even standing with the people.

In all these situations, we see the Lord maintained the cause of the afflicted. He blessed Esau with material things, even as He blessed Jacob with both material and spiritual. God blessed David in all the times Saul was trying to kill him. David had more than one opportunity to "get even" with King Saul. He had at least two times when he could have killed Saul. Probably no one would have thought it wrong of him. But David lived by the reality that the Lord maintained his cause. He committed himself into the hands of the Lord. Jesus, for certain, knew the Father was maintaining His cause. Even as Jesus hung on the cross, He committed Himself into the hands of the Father. Instead of  trying to get even, Jesus spoke words of forgiveness to those who had nailed Him to the cross.

Vengeance is mine. I will repay, saith the Lord. Thank you Father that you maintain the cause and the right of your people. Even though we may look at situations and wonder where the right may be, You make certain that it is maintained. The cause and right of your people are ultimately found when we enter the portals of heaven. May we commit ourselves into the Father's hands.
