Daily Devotion: For Glory and Beauty - Exodus 28:2

And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother for glory and for beauty. – Exodus 28:2
There are wonderful gems hidden in the Bible. Words of great value are everywhere in it, and sometimes the most profound ideas are hidden in plain sight. No where is this more true than in the ceremonies of the priesthood. The figure or metaphorical image of Christ is apparent in these passages at every turn (Hebrews 9:1-15). As Jesus said, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” (John 5:39)
As the chief ambassador and prophet of God in his day, Moses spoke for the Lord while Aaron filled the role of high priest. Or to put it another way, “And the Lord said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet (Exodus 7:1). Moses was given many instructions in the establishment of the priesthood, and we see in them the more perfect priesthood of Christ. Thus the robes and priestly garments reflect some of the character and purpose of Jesus Christ, the great High Priest.
As the garments of Aaron were for glory and beauty, so too was Jesus clothed. However, His coverings were not terribly remarkable. Rather, He was remarked with the glory and beauty of grace, love, mercy, truth, justice, kindness, humility, righteousness, patience, and above all holiness. The Anointed Holy One, the Savior was and is and ever shall be worthy of all praise. He is truly full of glory and beauty.
Dear Christian, be still and think on these things. Your savior is worthy.
