Daily Devotion: Joy Comes in the Morning - Psalm 30:4-5

Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. – Psalm 30:4-5
Just the other night my preschooler reminded my wife and I of the hope common to all believers. In her routine of bedtime prayers, she was thanking God for all His blessings including her brothers and sister, her mom and dad, her grandparents, and her aunt and uncle. Her prayer then meandered into thanking God for things in her room, and then she paused and said, “and thank you for the light… that comes up in the morning.” You see, she still struggles with fear of the dark, and she looks forward to seeing the sun’s rays shining through her window. She understands that despite her fears joy comes in the morning.
I hope and pray that you take comfort in the reassuring norms of the sun’s arrival in the morning, the birds singing and the simple fact that you are alive. We need to be reminded to be like children to enter the Kingdom of God. The dominion of God is for those humble enough to give thanks for the simple things and love without prejudice. Stand fast. Joy comes in the morning.
