Mark 7:24 "And from thence he arose, and
went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would
have no man know it: but he could not be hid."
"He could not be hid." What a wonderful statement to be made by Mark. If I did not say it at the beginning, I will say it now, Mark is one of my favorite accounts of the Gospel. Maybe because of the way he says things, or the quickness with which he gets to his point. I should probably strive to be more like him. But at the same time, if I am not paying attention while reading Mark, I will miss something very important.
On more than one occasion after performing a miracle, Jesus would tell the person, "See that no man know it." In my thoughts, Jesus is fulfilling the prophecy concerning Himself from Isaiah 42:2, "He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street." Jesus never drew attention to Himself. In fact, in all things, He glorified the Father. That was His desire. That shoud be my desire and the desire of all God's children. But just as surely as He would say, "tell no man," the individual who had been healed would go away telling everyone of what had just happened. Why would this happen? "He could not be hid."
As I read Mark, I should be more like those in Scripture who could not keep within themselves what the Lord had done for them. I should be more like them in declaring my testimony of what the Lord has done for me. He arose. He is victorious over death and sin. The grave is empty. He is risen just as He said. Because He lives, I live also.
I ask a simple question: Does Jesus live in my house? If so, do I try to hide Him or am I boldly telling the world that Jesus is my Lord and Saviour? In these trying times, people need the Lord. People need to be reminded that Jesus Christ is Lord and is far superior over any storm that comes along. He fed the multitude with five loaves and two fishes, He can feed my hungry soul. He calmed the wind and the waves. He can calm my heart from all doubt and fear. He lives! He lives! Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me! He talks with me, along the narrow way. He lives! He lives! salvation to impart! You ask me how I know He lives - He LIVES within my heart!
