Daily Devotion: 2 Chronicles 20:24-26

2 Chronicles 20:24-26    "And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped.  (25)  And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much.  (26)  And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Berachah; for there they blessed the LORD: therefore the name of the same place was called, The valley of Berachah, unto this day."

The king and all Judah had been praying, believing, worshiping, and singing praises unto the Lord as they went to the place where the Lord told them to go. As they approached the cliff and looked down into the valley, there were dead bodies on the ground. The Lord is true to His Word. He had said, "Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's."  Now He had shown them His power and glory and mercy.

Have you ever had something on your mind that terribly concerned you? Have you ever fought battles in your mind only to find out the very thing you were concerned about was already taken care of? If it isn't already taken care of, He gives you grace and mercy to help you through each circumstance. It seems to be human nature to do so. Aren't you thankful that God understands and He listens to us as we pour our hearts out to Him? I sure am thankful for the many times that He has allowed me to become concerned about something while the entire time He already had it under control.

There is a pattern that is established through this account of Jehoshaphat. When we seem to be surrounded by trouble and cannot see our way, give it to the Lord.  When you give it to Him, start praising Him for past battles and believing Him for the situation at hand. Trust Him. Sing your favorite song of praise unto Him. Prepare and strengthen your heart as you wait the situation. Then be certain to praise and thank Him after the battle is over.

Daily Devotion: Colossians 1:25-26

Colossians 1:25-26    “Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;  Even   the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:” In verse twenty-four, Paul has expressed his joy in bearing hardship for the church. It is of this church, the body of Jesus Christ, that he is made a minister. Since Paul used the phrase “made a minister” in verse twenty-three of this same chapter, it seems there is something important that he wishes to convey. The Greek word translated as “made” means “to cause to be.” It was the will of God (Col 1:1) that caused Paul to become a minister. God is always the cause of true ministry. Although our fathers may be ministers, if we become true ministers of the gospel it is  not  because our fathers are ministers. True ministers of the gospel do not take that path because they seek honor for themselves, or b...

Daily Devotion: Exodus 7:6-10

Exodus 7:6-10    "And Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them, so did they. And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spake unto Pharaoh. And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent. And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent." Moses and Aaron had begun to doubt whether they were right for the job the LORD had given them. Here, it is evident that God granted them a renewal of their faith. Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them. In my opinion, all truly successful outcomes in our lives begin with this. Moses and Aaron were not young men. Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron was eighty-three years old. Still,...
