Daily Devotion: 2 Chronicles 32:14-15

2 Chronicles 32:14-15    "Who was there among all the gods of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of mine hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of mine hand? (15)  Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you on this manner, neither yet believe him: for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of mine hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of mine hand?"

Our last devotion showed the king of Assyria and his army coming against Jerusalem. Their water supply had been cut off, but they were still determined in their intent to destroy the city and take the inhabitants captive. Their sheer numbers on the scene were intimidating. Their next approach to taking the city was to approach the people with propaganda lies. First, they assumed that Jerusalem's water supply was also stopped. Then they began their arguments to Jerusalem. Did not Hezekiah take away all the idols, altars, and groves out of the city. Did not Hezekiah restrict you by saying, "Ye shall worship before one altar, and burn incense upon it?" (Yes, he did because the altars and groves were to non-existing gods. The ONE altar was to the one and only true and living God.)  They continued their argument by saying none of the gods of the other nations were able to stop the killing machine of Assyria. At this point, their next statement took them across the line: "how much less shall your God deliver you out of mine hand".  They were about to find out the error of their ways.

Their statement reminds me of the question King Nebuchadnezzar asked the three Hebrew children. When those three men refused to bow down to the idol, Nebuchadnezzar flew into a rage and asked, "Who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?"  He soon found out who this God of great deliverance is. When he looked into the fire and saw four men loosed and walking in the fire, the king declared "the form of the fourth is like the Son of God."

Who is that God that still delivers today? Who is that One that can thwart the enemy's greatest attempts to destroy? Who is that One that can loose the bonds of the world even in the midst of fiery trials? Who is that One that can break the chains of imprisonment? Those chains may be addictions, or emotions, habits, or whatever. OUR GOD IS ABLE!

The Lord Jesus Christ is the God of deliverance  He delivered us from being dead in trespasses and sins through the shedding of His own blood. He took the penalty of death that belonged to us and paid it in full. Do not let the enemy intimidate you. Christ is standing strong and victorious on your side!

Daily Devotion: Colossians 1:25-26

Colossians 1:25-26    “Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;  Even   the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:” In verse twenty-four, Paul has expressed his joy in bearing hardship for the church. It is of this church, the body of Jesus Christ, that he is made a minister. Since Paul used the phrase “made a minister” in verse twenty-three of this same chapter, it seems there is something important that he wishes to convey. The Greek word translated as “made” means “to cause to be.” It was the will of God (Col 1:1) that caused Paul to become a minister. God is always the cause of true ministry. Although our fathers may be ministers, if we become true ministers of the gospel it is  not  because our fathers are ministers. True ministers of the gospel do not take that path because they seek honor for themselves, or b...

Daily Devotion: Exodus 7:6-10

Exodus 7:6-10    "And Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them, so did they. And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spake unto Pharaoh. And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent. And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent." Moses and Aaron had begun to doubt whether they were right for the job the LORD had given them. Here, it is evident that God granted them a renewal of their faith. Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them. In my opinion, all truly successful outcomes in our lives begin with this. Moses and Aaron were not young men. Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron was eighty-three years old. Still,...
