Psalm 45:1-4 "My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer. (2) Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever. (3) Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty. (4) And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things."
"My heart is inditing a good matter." Have you ever felt the
love of Christ to be so strong inside you that it seemed to just be bubbling up
like a spring of water? In these four verses, David gushes forth the entire
Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Again, though David prophesied concerning the
Lord Jesus, I'm not sure that He understood the fulness of what he was writing.
The Holy Spirit within him was bringing to the surface these sweet truths and
David was "gushing" out these words of truth as fast as they were
given to him.
He was speaking things of great glory and beauty in words that he and the
people could understand, as well as you and I of today can understand. In fact,
we often sing of this subject in that grand old hymn, "Come, Thou Almighty
King". This word picture is given to us in various places throughout
the Scriptures. We saw back in the 18th Psalm how the Lord receives and answers
our prayers for help. We read how the eyes of the Lord go to and fro throughout
the earth to show Himself strong on our behalf. We know when the servant
of the Prophet Elisha was frightened, the Lord opened his eyes to see they were
surrounded by angels and chariots of fire. The most vivid picture of our Lord
coming to us in help is found in the book of Revelation, chapter 19.
"And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should
smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth
the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. (16) And
he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD
OF LORDS." (Revelation 19:15-16) I believe we could see this scene
if our eyes were opened at the moment the Lord comes to us in answer to our
prayers.
Though He was born to the Virgin Mary, He is no longer that baby in the manger.
Though He quietened the storm, He isn't that man asleep in the boat. Though we
were healed by His stripes, He is no longer having the scourge to His back, nor
nails pounded into His hands and feet. He came 2000 years ago as the Lamb of
God, but today... listen to this... TODAY, He is that Lion of the tribe of
Judah! He is the Lord of all! He is the KING of all kings! He reigns!
He rules! He governs all things! He is the righteous Judge! He is
the Saviour, Deliverer! Even as I write these things, my fingers cannot
keep up with the thoughts coming into my heart and mind. He is my ALL AND IN
ALL!! How about you? I pray we never sing this song again without
the vision of our KING coming to our aid.
Come, Thou Almighty King

1 Come, thou almighty King,
help us thy name to sing;
help us to praise.
Father all-glorious,
o'er all victorious,
come and reign over us,
Ancient of Days.
2 Come, thou incarnate Word,
gird on thy mighty sword;
our prayer attend.
Come and thy people bless,
and give thy Word success,
and let thy righteousness
on us descend.
