Daily Devotion: Psalm 126:6

Psalm 126:6 "He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him."

This Psalm has been speaking of dreaming and anticipating, then seeing the Lord bringing to realization the end result. True joy comes as a result of knowing the Lord has brought those results to pass.

Even when it seems like a dream, we are called to continue sowing seed, or doing what the Lord has called us to do. Even when it may seem no progress is being made, we are to be faithful to the call that is upon us.

The promise of today's passage is that if we remain faithful, God will show His strength and power in our lives. We will know it is His grace and mercy and we are to direct all glory to Him.

Paul wrote it in this manner, "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." (Galatians 6:9) Be faithful to the work which you have been called.

Daily Devotion: Psalm 88:1-4

Most Psalms start in a low place and as the writer expresses his thoughts, the Lord begins to lift him up out of that dry place. Though this entire Psalm is a fervent cry unto the Lord, the Psalmist tells us specifically in three verses that he cried daily unto the Lord. Daily Devotion: Knowing God By Bearing Fruit

Some will notice the title is not “Bearing fruit because we know God,” so to avoid getting sidetracked with that, we can start with the fact that we won’t bear any godly fruit unless our heart has been changed and the Holy Spirit dwells within us. Also, to avoid confusion, I’ll be using the terms “bearing fruit,” “good works” and “service” interchangeably.
