Daily Devotion: Genesis 12:1-4

Genesis 12:1-4    Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:  (2)  And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:  (3)  And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.  (4)  So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.

We are introduced to Abram. I want to begin this devotion by saying that God is always the One to initiate the action anytime a person does great things in the Lord's service. Notice the "I will's" of these four verses and it all begins with "Now the Lord had said unto Abram...."  The Lord had something very special in store for Abram and his family. But in order to experience that blessing, he had to "Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee."  Can you imagine him leaving every familiar surrounding and going to a place where he had never been and he not even know where he was going.  He left on the initial promise of God, "I will shew thee."

Abram believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness. We will be looking at these verses again, but for now I want us to see this great beginning for Abram. "Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country.... (Vs. 4) So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him."  We live in a world that says, "Seeing is believing." But in order to walk in the kingdom of God we are required to hold this great truth: "Believing is seeing."  Our home in the eternal heaven has been bought and paid for by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. But there are blessings of God that are experienced in each of our lives as we follow Jesus as a little child. He has great plans for each of us and we must let go of our own designs and take hold of His hand as He leads us through this time of life on earth.  May we each be found living in the favor of God by simply taking hold of His promises and following Him.

Daily Devotion: Colossians 1:25-26

Colossians 1:25-26    “Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;  Even   the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:” In verse twenty-four, Paul has expressed his joy in bearing hardship for the church. It is of this church, the body of Jesus Christ, that he is made a minister. Since Paul used the phrase “made a minister” in verse twenty-three of this same chapter, it seems there is something important that he wishes to convey. The Greek word translated as “made” means “to cause to be.” It was the will of God (Col 1:1) that caused Paul to become a minister. God is always the cause of true ministry. Although our fathers may be ministers, if we become true ministers of the gospel it is  not  because our fathers are ministers. True ministers of the gospel do not take that path because they seek honor for themselves, or b...

Daily Devotion: Exodus 7:6-10

Exodus 7:6-10    "And Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them, so did they. And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spake unto Pharaoh. And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent. And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent." Moses and Aaron had begun to doubt whether they were right for the job the LORD had given them. Here, it is evident that God granted them a renewal of their faith. Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them. In my opinion, all truly successful outcomes in our lives begin with this. Moses and Aaron were not young men. Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron was eighty-three years old. Still,...
