Daily Devotion: Genesis 37:19-22

Genesis 37:19-22    "And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh. Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams. And Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands; and said, Let us not kill him. And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again."

Joseph’s brothers were tending the flocks at Dothan. Israel sent Joseph to check on their welfare. Even though Joseph was coming out of concern for their welfare, they could not put aside the jealousy and hatred they had for him. They wanted to do things their way. Bowing down to Joseph (even though, so far, it had only been in a dream) was not something they intended to do.

The word translated as dreamer has two sources: one is simply “dreamer” and the other means “master.” They were so against the prophetic dream that foretold their bowing down before Joseph that they were willing to kill him rather than be humbled before him. Joseph’s brothers had already concocted the lie they would tell about what happened. Reuben prevailed in persuading the others not to kill Jospeh and even intended to return Jospeh to his father unharmed…but that was not God’s will.

Jesus came unto His own, and His own did not want anything to do with Him. They had heard the prophecies all their lives about the coming of Messiah, but they had not planned to bow down to Him. Rather, they thought that He would come to lift them above other men. They conspired against Him to take His life, although this was something they could not do. Yes, He died, but He declared that He laid down His life and He would take it up again. No man would take it from Him (John 10:17-18).

Like Reuben did with Joseph, Pilate looked for a way to set Jesus free. Also, like Reuben, Pilate did not understand that the events that were unfolding were God’s will and would not be interfered with. As the brothers came up with a lie to explain what happened to Joseph, even so the Jewish leaders in Jesus’ day came up with a lie to explain try and explain away His resurrection from the dead. Through all this conniving, God’s will and promise was steadfast.

Dear ones, God is still the same today. Even though there are those who rebel against Jesus being Master and Lord, He still is. The world can make up all kinds of lies about who Jesus was (or was not). However, it is God’s will that His children know not who Jesus WAS but who Jesus IS. His will, His promise, and His love for you are as steadfast today as they ever were, and they always will be!

Daily Devotion: Genesis 3:15

Genesis 3:15   "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel." In this verse we see the first prophecy concerning the work of our Lord Jesus Christ.  The work of Jesus Christ is in opposition to the work of the serpent (Satan). (Romans 8:6-8 )   "For to be carnally minded  is  death; but to be spiritually minded  is  life and peace. (7) Because the carnal mind  is  enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. (8 ) So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God." The carnal mind with which we all have to contend is the offspring of the transgression in the Garden. After their sin, carnality became a constant and daily battle. It was because of sin that Jesus came to this earth. "... "For to be carnally minded  is  death..." The spiritual mind is the offspring of the work of the seed of the woman - Jesus.  &

Daily Devotion: Psalm 100:1-5

Psalm 100:1-5      Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.   (2)  Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.   (3)  Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.   (4)  Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.   (5)  For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. Happy Thanksgiving! I want to say that I pray each one has a happy and blessed Thanksgiving.  No doubt, there will be a "joyful noise" as families gather together to enjoy a delicious feast. Laughter and joy will be abundant. I am so thankful for that blessing of gladness upon our hearts and minds. God is so good. As we enter into the festivities, may our hearts and minds be filled with true thanksgiving unto the Lord for His goodness and mercy upon us. Though it is impossible to

Daily Devotion: Psalm 67:1-3

Psalm 67:1-3    "God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah.  (2)  That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.  (3)  Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee." As you read verse one, can you say in your heart and mind that God has indeed blessed you? Has He been merciful to you? Have you experienced the blessing of Christ Jesus shining into your heart the truth of God's love bestowed upon you? Can you exclaim with John, the Beloved, "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God." (1 John 3:1) We find another "Selah" in this passage.  It requires some time for us to stop, look, listen, and think upon the great blessing of God's grace; yet, it is so very much worth the time and effort spent. Why is it important for us to meditate upon these things?  First, I think it is important that we remain hu
