Daily Devotion: Genesis 45:13-18

Genesis 45:13-18    "And ye shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt, and of all that ye have seen; and ye shall haste and bring down my father hither. And he fell upon his brother Benjamin's neck, and wept; and Benjamin wept upon his neck. Moreover he kissed all his brethren, and wept upon them: and after that his brethren talked with him. And the fame thereof was heard in Pharaoh's house, saying, Joseph's brethren are come: and it pleased Pharaoh well, and his servants. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Say unto thy brethren, This do ye; lade your beasts, and go, get you unto the land of Canaan; And take your father and your households, and come unto me: and I will give you the good of the land of Egypt, and ye shall eat the fat of the land."

We can certainly identify with Joseph’s desire for his father to know that he was doing well. This might stem from wanting them to know that we paid attention to the lessons of life they taught us. It might also stem from a desire that they should not be worried about us. As our parents grow older, we can also identify with Joseph’s desire to have them close by us.

While this desire might not come as a surprise, Joseph’s reaction to his brothers certainly did. Even though Benjamin did not have a hand in conspiring against Joseph, he was very young when Joseph was sold into slavery. Yet, Joseph and Benjamin embraced each other and wept. Still, this was not nearly as surprising as Joseph’s reaction to his other brothers.

These men had conspired against Joseph to kill him. He had been robbed of the life he knew and the family he loved for many years. Yet, he came to these men (his brothers and kissed them as well. He embraced them and wept with them, even though they had treated him unfairly. After this emotional reunion, they were able to talk about the things that had transpired between them and the future that lay before them.

The news spread to Pharaoh’s house that Joseph’s brothers had come to Egypt. Joseph was so loved by Pharaoh that he showed favor to Joseph’s family. Pharaoh instructed that they be given provisions for their journey home and enough to sustain them and their families. They were to hurry back to the land of Canaan but not tarry there.

Pharaoh’s instruction was for them to gather up their father, their families, and their belongings and return to Egypt as quickly as possible. They were promised the good of the land because of Joseph. Their needs would be met. They would have a place of safety to dwell in.

Jesus is loving and faithful to forgive our sins to the point that we are made to weep with amazement. We are able to talk with Him in prayer and express our love for Him in worship. He causes us to have a place where we can eat the good of the land even though we are pilgrims and strangers in this land. Jesus is able to cause us to find favor, and we should look to Him and give Him the glory!

Daily Devotion: Genesis 3:15

Genesis 3:15   "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel." In this verse we see the first prophecy concerning the work of our Lord Jesus Christ.  The work of Jesus Christ is in opposition to the work of the serpent (Satan). (Romans 8:6-8 )   "For to be carnally minded  is  death; but to be spiritually minded  is  life and peace. (7) Because the carnal mind  is  enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. (8 ) So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God." The carnal mind with which we all have to contend is the offspring of the transgression in the Garden. After their sin, carnality became a constant and daily battle. It was because of sin that Jesus came to this earth. "... "For to be carnally minded  is  death..." The spiritual mind is the offspring of the work of the seed of the woman - Jesus.  &

Daily Devotion: Psalm 100:1-5

Psalm 100:1-5      Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.   (2)  Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.   (3)  Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.   (4)  Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.   (5)  For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. Happy Thanksgiving! I want to say that I pray each one has a happy and blessed Thanksgiving.  No doubt, there will be a "joyful noise" as families gather together to enjoy a delicious feast. Laughter and joy will be abundant. I am so thankful for that blessing of gladness upon our hearts and minds. God is so good. As we enter into the festivities, may our hearts and minds be filled with true thanksgiving unto the Lord for His goodness and mercy upon us. Though it is impossible to

Daily Devotion: Psalm 67:1-3

Psalm 67:1-3    "God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah.  (2)  That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.  (3)  Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee." As you read verse one, can you say in your heart and mind that God has indeed blessed you? Has He been merciful to you? Have you experienced the blessing of Christ Jesus shining into your heart the truth of God's love bestowed upon you? Can you exclaim with John, the Beloved, "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God." (1 John 3:1) We find another "Selah" in this passage.  It requires some time for us to stop, look, listen, and think upon the great blessing of God's grace; yet, it is so very much worth the time and effort spent. Why is it important for us to meditate upon these things?  First, I think it is important that we remain hu
