Proverbs 29:18 "Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he."
Jesus spoke of the blind leading the blind. They can't see where they are at the present neither can they see where the road will take them. They wander aimlessly and then they both end up in the ditch. This is true both literally and figuratively. We need a vision of where we are going and how we are going to get there. When I read this verse, my mind goes to the sixth chapter of the book of Isaiah. It speaks of a time when King Uzziah had died. It seemed as if the people had lost all hope and all vision of what would happen to their country. But it was at that time that the Lord gave the Prophet Isaiah a wonderful vision. "In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple." (Isaiah 6:1) The vision that sustained those people and still sustains us today is the greater vision of "the Lord sitting upon a throne." We are in a sad state if we ever lose that great truth. No matter what we perceive as happening on this earth, the Lord is on His throne "high and lifted up, and his train fills the temple." His glory is all around us and He shows glimpses of Himself to us each day. But we must train our hearts and minds to be able to see those wonderful visions of God working in our lives.
