Isaiah 12:2-3 "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. (3) Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation."
Isaiah is still speaking of "that day" when the Lord will bring His
people back from captivity. It probably was difficult for them to understand
these words because the captivity had not taken place when this was written. We
look back and we can see the Lord's faithfulness and see the wonderful truth in
the prophetic words that were given by prophets such as Isaiah, Jeremiah, and
Ezekiel. We can look back and understand the words of Jeremiah, "This I
recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD'S mercies that
we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every
morning: great is thy faithfulness." (Lamentations 3:21-23) We know
this is true as we look back, but we can also know this is true as we look
forward in time. God has never changed and He never will change.
Therefore, we can say "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not
be afraid." We know this is true; yet, it seems we must come to the end of
our rope before we can actually hold this deep within us to know the deep
reality of this. His mercies are new every morning. His compassions fail not.
Great is the faithfulness of God. He truly is my deliverance - my only source
of deliverance. I cannot deliver myself. I am not strong enough without the
help of my Lord Jesus. But I can draw from the truth of His faithfulness each
day and it will never run dry. They are new every morning. In my weakness, I
can experience the truth of Christ's strength. In my inability to take myself
through any given day, I can know my Lord will take my hand and guide me each
step. As I realize these incredible truths, I begin to hear the song within my
heart that is praising my God. He truly is my strength and my song. He is my
salvation. I trust Him because of His great love for me. Thank you Lord!
