Daily Devotion: Exodus 40:33-38

Exodus 40:33-38     "And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the hanging of the court gate. So Moses finished the work. Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward in all their journeys: But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up. For the cloud of the LORD was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys."

Moses had received the testimony of God in mount Sinai a second time. When he came down from the mount, his face shone with such a light from the presence of God that he had to wear a vail over his face when he spoke to the children of Israel. Moses declared to them again the word of the LORD, and those called out to do so began to fashion all that pertained to the tabernacle. All the tools were made according to the word of God, the tabernacle was built according to the pattern that God had shown Moses, and the priestly garments were designed according to God’s direction. All was now in readiness for the service of the LORD according to the law. The LORD’s servant, Moses, had finished the work of building and sanctifying the place where God would show His glory to His people.

The LORD’s glory was evident both day and night. He made His glory to appear in such a way that it could be seen in the sight of all the house of Israel. As long as the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle, the children of Israel undertook no journey. When the glory of the LORD moved, the children of Israel moved. This was true whether the cloud stayed in one place for a day or a year.

Beloved, the work of building and sanctifying the place where the glory of the LORD is seen today is a finished work. It was finished by the work of Jesus Christ in His life, His death, His burial, His resurrection, and that fact that He is alive forevermore. He has worked His work of glory in the hearts of His children and sanctified spiritual Israel to follow according to the leading of the glory of the LORD. He has made His glory to be seen by us regardless of where our “tent” is pitched. We can see His glory from the highest mountains and from the lowest valleys. Abide where the LORD abides and go where He leads.

Daily Devotion: Psalm 88:1-4

Psalm 88:1-4  A Song or Psalm for the sons of Korah, to the chief Musician upon Mahalath Leannoth, Maschil of Heman the Ezrahite. "O LORD God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before thee:  (2)  Let my prayer come before thee: incline thine ear unto my cry;  (3)  For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the grave.  (4)  I am counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man that hath no strength" I've said this before and I will say it again (and probably more times before we get to the end of the Psalms) - I love the Psalms because I can surely identify with them. Most Psalms start in a low place and as the writer expresses his thoughts, the Lord begins to lift him up out of that dry place.  Though this entire Psalm is a fervent cry unto the Lord, the Psalmist tells us specifically in three verses that he cried daily unto the Lord. Just a few Psalms ago, we were reminded that God always hears our prayers. ...

Daily Devotion: Enter With Thanksgiving - Psalm 100:1-5

One of the most beautiful Psalms of Thanksgiving is the 100th Psalm. Please turn to it and read verses one through five. With all my heart I believe we are a people and a nation that has truly been blessed by God. Of all those who “give thanks to Him and praise His name” we should be at the top!  It is not uncommon to compile wish lists at Christmas, and draw up a list of resolutions for the new year. But there is another list we often overlook - a Thanksgiving Day list of all for which we are thankful. What would your list contain? Most likely, a good part would be material possessions. I’m convinced that we would find that we have much more for which to be thankful than just our material possessions.  Like you, I’m sure my list would include the major things - life, health, family, friends, and the nation we live in, despite all its flaws. But even more than that, I’m thankful for my salvation, my Church family, and the mercy that God showers upon us each d...
