Hebrews 10:31 "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God."
I'm not even sure how to begin writing what is on my heart this morning. I will
begin by saying what spurred my thoughts in this direction. We were sitting at
the breakfast table and talking about the terrible tragedy that has taken place
in Texas. I find it impossible to put into words anything that would begin to
explain what has happened. But then, I also realized that the flooding is
happening across our land - Texas, New Mexico, Kentucky, Tennessee - and then
the tragedy in North Carolina last year. I know God has promised - and the
rainbow is the ongoing token of that promise - that He will never destroy the
earth again by a flood. That was talking about the global flood in the days of
Noah. Yes, I believe the entire earth was covered with water when God sent that
flood. But in the past year, we have seen so much devastation that is taking
place around the world. I'm not sure what is happening, but I cannot discount
"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that
shall he also reap." (Galatians 6:7) I'm not going to try to blame God,
but this I do know.... Whether I understand what's happening or not... MY GOD
IS STILL ON HIS THRONE.
One of the great blessings of being a child of God is that not only is He my
God - He is also my Heavenly FATHER. As my Father, He has the right, the
privilege, and even the obligation to "keep me in line". And He
is not afraid, or timid, to apply correction to His children. In fact, we are
told "For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth..." (Hebrews 12:6)
Again, yesterday I had basically the same conversation as I had this
morning. It was shared that quite possibly the Lord is "shaking" our
nation in order to bring us back to the basics and to that which is real and
true. Is that a Biblical stand? Absolutely, yes it is. I close with
these verses and we are to understand they are also included in the promises of
God. Let us take heed to things of God and turn back to Him!
Hebrews 12:25-27 "See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not
who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn
away from him that speaketh from heaven (26) Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying,
Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. (27) And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those
things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which
cannot be shaken may remain."
