Psalm 25:1-2 A Psalm of David. "Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul. (2) O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me."
We love to talk about God's mercy and grace - and rightfully so! Without
God's grace, I am nothing. Without God's mercy, I would fall every single day.
I praise His Holy Name for bestowing His grace upon me. I did nothing to
deserve it and it is by God's faithfulness that His mercies are new every
morning. There should be a response from us when grace is properly understood.
Though David was not a perfect man, he set out to establish that response unto
the Lord. We see it in verse 1: "Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my
soul." We see David declaring in these words, "Lord, you have
extended yourself to me and I stretch myself toward you. I do not desire the
things of the world more than I desire YOU." The words, "lift
up," carries the meaning of being married. We love that the Lord refers to
us as the bride of Christ; yet, do we look to Him and declare that relationship
to be viable and vital in our lives? Do we live our lives in such a manner that
others can see our devotion and attention belongs unto the Lord? There is much
to see in this 25th Psalm, but today I want to just meditate upon this glorious
relationship.
We read in Isaiah 62:4, "Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither
shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah,
and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be
married." The Lord chose to bring us into His family. He chose us to be
His bride. He chose to lift us up out of the miry clay and set our feet
upon the Rock. He chose to come into the land of desolation and fetch us unto
Himself. He chose to bring us from that place where we were forsaken into a
relationship where He has promised that we would never be forsaken again. He
chose to delight in you and me. He chose to call us to be His very own. He
chose to bestow grace and mercy upon us. He chose to love us. God - God -
God!! It's all of Him and we experience and enjoy the benefits, or
blessings, of that relationship. Should we not also say as the Psalmist David,
"Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul." Lord, I stretch
myself to you. Lord, I will lift up my soul to you in order to exhibit my love
and desire for you! We should daily practice the art of expressing our love for
our Saviour.
I love You, Lord And I lift my voice
To worship You Oh my soul rejoice
Take joy my King In what You hear
Let it be a sweet, sweet sound
In Your ear
