Isaiah 62:10-12 "Go through, go through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the people. (11) Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. (12) And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken."
Would you agree with me that every single person on the earth is looking for
something? The problem lies in the fact that, 1) We do not know what we
are looking for, or, 2) We don't know where to go to find it. I use the
pronoun, we, for generality sake. We know what and where to look for if
we have been brought into a saving knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ. I say that because I believe the one thing that people are seeking, yet
cannot always put a name on it, is PEACE. We all are looking for peace of
mind and peace of heart. Some think if they have enough money, position, power,
influence, or some other material thing then they will find that elusive peace.
All too often, those things are the "stones" that need to be gathered
out. So, what are we, who know this peace, to do?
Let me go back to verse one. "For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace,
and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go
forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth."
(Isaiah 62:1) "I will not hold my peace." I will echo that
which "... the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say
ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is
with him, and his work before him." How can I echo that? What is required
in order for me to be the witness that I am called to be? It is true that I
cannot change anyone's heart, but I can be true to my Lord in declaring that
Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life which brings peace and
assurance into the heart. Only Jesus can bring that which so many people are
seeking and searching. We are to speak often, loudly, and boldly the name
of Jesus Christ.
