Daily Devotion: Revelation: 19:6 (3)

Revelation 19:6      "And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth."

I receive more and more consolation in my heart and mind each time I read this verse. I pray we never think it to be just mere words that were given to fill space. True peace and comfort comes from the reality that "... the Lord God omnipotent reigneth." ALLELUIA !  "Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great." (Revelation 19:5)  The Prophet Amos was moved to write, "Woe to them that are at ease in Zion..." (Amos 6:1) If the words of Revelation 19:6 are not true, then you and I have absolutely no hope whatsoever. If God does not have all power, then He has no power. If God does not have all wisdom, then He has no wisdom. If God is not everywhere at all times, then He is no where at any time. If Revelation 19:6 is not true, then there is no use or profit at all in reading the Bible. It simply becomes another book written by man. But we have the assurance given to us by the Holy Spirit of God that His Word is truth and it shall never pass away. Jesus said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." (Matthew 24:35)

The Psalmist wrote, " Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear." (Psalm 119:38) I have heard people say something like this, "I don't know that even God can help me." For those people, I pray the Word of God will be established in their hearts that they would give honor to God by knowing that He is indeed omnipotent. I look back and realize there have been times when God showed His power on my life time and time again. I can truthfully say with the Psalmist, "If it had not been the LORD who was on our side..." (Psalm 124:1,2) For anyone who has heard me preach for any length of time, you know that two of my favorite words in the Bible are, "But God..." Paul seemed to love those two words also. He would use them often as in Ephesians 2:4, ,"But God, who is rich in mercy..."  Yes, God is omnipotent even in showing mercy to sinners who are condemned and unclean. We had no hope when we were dead in trespasses and sins and could not bring ourselves out. "But God, who is rich in mercy..."  There seemed to be no hope when there seemed to be no way out of a situation that had us pinned against the wall, "But God, who is rich in mercy..." When I stop to think about these things in my life, my heart swells with gratitude and love for the Almighty God, "... for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth." May He continue to be merciful to us as a nation, as a people, as individuals who stand in need of Him each and every day.

On this Memorial Day, let us give thanks unto the Lord as we remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice that we can enjoy the freedom in this land. And may we stop to remember and give thanks unto our Lord and Saviour, who by His omnipotent power gave His life and offered His precious blood unto the Father as payment in full for our debt of sin. "Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great."

Daily Devotion: Colossians 1:25-26

Colossians 1:25-26    “Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;  Even   the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:” In verse twenty-four, Paul has expressed his joy in bearing hardship for the church. It is of this church, the body of Jesus Christ, that he is made a minister. Since Paul used the phrase “made a minister” in verse twenty-three of this same chapter, it seems there is something important that he wishes to convey. The Greek word translated as “made” means “to cause to be.” It was the will of God (Col 1:1) that caused Paul to become a minister. God is always the cause of true ministry. Although our fathers may be ministers, if we become true ministers of the gospel it is  not  because our fathers are ministers. True ministers of the gospel do not take that path because they seek honor for themselves, or b...

Daily Devotion: Exodus 7:6-10

Exodus 7:6-10    "And Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them, so did they. And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spake unto Pharaoh. And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent. And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent." Moses and Aaron had begun to doubt whether they were right for the job the LORD had given them. Here, it is evident that God granted them a renewal of their faith. Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them. In my opinion, all truly successful outcomes in our lives begin with this. Moses and Aaron were not young men. Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron was eighty-three years old. Still,...
