Psalm 32:1-2 "Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. (2) Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile."
What comes to mind when you think about blessings? Good health is definitely a
blessing. A good family filled with love for each other is a blessing.
Getting the job you wanted is a blessing. There are many things we could place
in that list, called blessings. He speaks of opening "... the windows of
heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to
receive it." (Malachi 3:10) We are told in Psalm 68:19,
"Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of
our salvation. Selah." God blesses us on a daily basis more than we could
ever hope or imagine.
But notice in Psalm 68:19 the blessing at the end of that verse: "the God
of our salvation." Notice the blessing listed in our text verse today.
"Blessed is he
whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered."
This speaks of our greatest blessing: salvation. Paul writes of this blessing
and the price that was paid for you and I to receive it. "To the praise of
the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In
whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according
to the riches of his grace." (Ephesians 1:6-7) God's love is so great that
He gave His only begotten Son to die for our sins. It was His precious blood
that paid the price for our blessing of forgiveness. Let us never take that for
granted.
Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it!
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb!
redeemed through His infinite mercy—
His child, and forever, I am.
Refrain:
Redeemed, redeemed,
redeemed by the blood of the Lamb!
Redeemed, redeemed–
His child and forever, I am.
