Daily Devotion: Psalm 40:16

Psalm 40:16    "Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified."

Do you ever feel like something is missing? Oftentimes in our travels, we get in the car and say, "I feel like I'm forgetting something." Thankfully, there is always a Walmart or a Dollar General Store close enough that if we do forget, then we can easily replace most things. But as we are traveling, our minds are seeking to remember what it is we have forgotten. David tells us in today's verse, "Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee." In these words is the promise that when we seek for the Lord, He will be found. We read in Jeremiah 29:13, "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart." Just prior to these words, the Lord had spoken through Jeremiah in verse 10, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." So the thought in today's passage is that when we truly are seeking for the Lord, there is joy and gladness to be experienced because He will be found.

The problem that I see all too often is that people seek things that they believe will fill that emptiness. There was a song back in the 70's that talked about "... looking for love in all the wrong places." I don't suppose I can say this flat out about everyone (though it's probably true) but most of us, if not all of us, have at some time thought that we would truly be happy if we could only have a particular thing. The Word of God tells us that true fulfillment and contentment can only be found in one place and in one person - The Lord God Almighty! When we come to that realization, then we can join in with David to magnify the name of the Lord. Let us lift up and exalt His holy name above all else and above all others. "Let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified." Thank you Jesus for saving my soul. Thank you Lord for making my whole. There is a name I love to hear. I love to sing His praises. It sounds like music in mine ear - the Sweetest name on earth!  O, how I love Jesus!!  Because He first loved me.

Daily Devotion: Colossians 1:25-26

Colossians 1:25-26    “Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;  Even   the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:” In verse twenty-four, Paul has expressed his joy in bearing hardship for the church. It is of this church, the body of Jesus Christ, that he is made a minister. Since Paul used the phrase “made a minister” in verse twenty-three of this same chapter, it seems there is something important that he wishes to convey. The Greek word translated as “made” means “to cause to be.” It was the will of God (Col 1:1) that caused Paul to become a minister. God is always the cause of true ministry. Although our fathers may be ministers, if we become true ministers of the gospel it is  not  because our fathers are ministers. True ministers of the gospel do not take that path because they seek honor for themselves, or b...

Daily Devotion: Exodus 7:6-10

Exodus 7:6-10    "And Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them, so did they. And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spake unto Pharaoh. And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent. And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent." Moses and Aaron had begun to doubt whether they were right for the job the LORD had given them. Here, it is evident that God granted them a renewal of their faith. Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them. In my opinion, all truly successful outcomes in our lives begin with this. Moses and Aaron were not young men. Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron was eighty-three years old. Still,...
