Psalm 56:3-4 "What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. (4) In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me."
Psalm 56:8-11 "Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are
they not in thy book? (9) When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know;
for God is for me. (10) In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word. (11) In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do
unto me."
Trust is a very important matter. We place our trust in others. We place our
trust that our vehicles will move us from one place to another. When we are
going to a place unknown, we trust the GPS system to help us arrive. There have
been many times when I would pray, "Lord, I have no idea where I am if I
lose connection with this GPS." Talk about blind trust. But even in that,
I find myself going to a higher source in that I pray to ask the Lord to help
my connection remain. But then I realize the greatest tracking connection that
I have is not in some electronic device; rather, the best tracking system is
the true GPS (God's Positioning System). "What time I am afraid, I will
trust in thee." There is no better place to put our confidence than in the
wisdom, power, love, mercy, and grace of God.
I included verses 8-11 today because there are times in each of our lives when
we feel like we are wandering in the wilderness. It seems our lives are going
in circles and we cannot adjust our compass to get us going in the right
direction. I am thankful that in those times, I can cry unto the Lord with
great confidence. "... this I know; for God is for me";
therefore, "In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word."
This speaks of our need for understanding God's Word and realizing it is
through His power that we are able to walk with Him each day. Yes, there are
times when we make wrong turns. We make wrong decisions. We find ourselves in a
"dark loop" of going round and round. But even in those times, we can
solemnly say, "What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee."
'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
Just to know, "Thus saith the Lord!"
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I've proved Him o'er and o'er;
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
Oh, for grace to trust Him more!
