Psalm 73:24-26 "Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. (25) Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. (26) My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever."
"Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel." I admit to you there have
been times in my travels that I would still be wandering around in the
wilderness if my GPS had lost connection. I remember more than once being in an
unfamiliar place and praying, "Lord, please don't let me lose
connection." I have seen a lot of countryside through the years and I'm
thankful to say that the Lord was with me every mile of the way. He has indeed
guided me geographically in my travels. But there are so many other ways that
He has guided me with His counsel. I'm so thankful as I look back that His
wisdom guided me through decisions that had to be made. I wish I could tell you
that I've always 100% asked the Lord for guidance in every decision. But I can
tell you that every time I have asked - He has given the proper leadership.
There is so much to be said about His counsel and the importance in our lives.
I will just leave this section with these words of Jesus: "Ask, and it
shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto
you"
One of the first spiritual type questions that is asked by a child is this,
"Where is heaven?" How do you answer that in a child's understanding?
Actually, how do you answer that in my understanding? We know that as the
disciples watched Jesus, "... while they beheld, he was taken up; and a
cloud received him out of their sight." He was taken up. We sing of heaven
being "somewhere beyond the blue." So, how do we get there? We know
we are bought by the blood of Jesus and born of the Spirit of God. We know it
is by God's amazing saving grace. But how do we get into heaven? Childlike
question? Yes, it is. But I think it is important to think about. Some say an
angel came to take them home. I believe the answer was given by Jesus, Himself
in John 14:3, "... if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again,
and receive you unto myself." I believe Jesus, Himself, comes to
take us by the hand and lead us into heaven's glory. Yes, this was given even
in the 73rd Psalm. "Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward
receive me to glory." I'm so thankful for the 26th verse. "My flesh
and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for
ever." Thank you Jesus!
He Leadeth Me, by Joseph Henry Gilmore
He leadeth me! O blessed thought,
O words with heav’nly comfort fraught;
Whate’er I do, where’er I be,
Still ’tis Christ’s hand that leadeth me.
He leadeth me! He leadeth me!
By His own hand He leadeth me;
His faithful follower I would be,
For by His hand He leadeth me.
And when my task on earth is done,
When, by Thy grace, the vict’ry’s won,
E’en death’s cold wave I will not flee,
Since Thou in triumph leadest me.
