Daily Devotion: Psalm 95:1-3

Psalm 95:1-3    "O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.  (2)  Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.  (3)  For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods."

I begin with a very simple statement: Worship is all about God. The Psalmist is instructing us that we are to worship the Lord. We are to engage in that activity. I admit that I do not always know the songs that are used each Sunday, but I can read the words. Even if I do not know the tune, I can read the words and in doing so, I lift my heart and mind toward the Lord of all glory. I believe that, not only does the Lord see our hearts, He hears our hearts. He hears the joy that is in us as we tune our hearts to sing His praise. We are told: "Let us sing.... Let us make a joyful noise.... Let us come before His presence... (again) Let us make a joyful noise.... (Let us understand that we are doing this) ... For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods." There is no other that can begin to compare with our God. And then to think that this great and mighty One chose to bestow His love upon us is more than my mind can fathom. But I know it's true. Though we use our mouths to worship, it truly is a matter of the heart. Worship and praise unto the Lord is the avenue through which we enter into His divine presence. Therefore, LET us sing. LET us praise. Let us come before His presence. Let us understand the One to whom we lift our voices. "For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods." To which I say this morning, SELAH. Think on these things.

Come, thou Fount of every blessing; tune my heart to sing thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming tongues above;
Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it, mount of God’s unchanging love!

Daily Devotion: Enter With Thanksgiving - Psalm 100:1-5

One of the most beautiful Psalms of Thanksgiving is the 100th Psalm. Please turn to it and read verses one through five. With all my heart I believe we are a people and a nation that has truly been blessed by God. Of all those who “give thanks to Him and praise His name” we should be at the top!  It is not uncommon to compile wish lists at Christmas, and draw up a list of resolutions for the new year. But there is another list we often overlook - a Thanksgiving Day list of all for which we are thankful. What would your list contain? Most likely, a good part would be material possessions. I’m convinced that we would find that we have much more for which to be thankful than just our material possessions.  Like you, I’m sure my list would include the major things - life, health, family, friends, and the nation we live in, despite all its flaws. But even more than that, I’m thankful for my salvation, my Church family, and the mercy that God showers upon us each d...

Daily Devotion: Exodus 7:6-10

Exodus 7:6-10    "And Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them, so did they. And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spake unto Pharaoh. And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent. And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent." Moses and Aaron had begun to doubt whether they were right for the job the LORD had given them. Here, it is evident that God granted them a renewal of their faith. Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them. In my opinion, all truly successful outcomes in our lives begin with this. Moses and Aaron were not young men. Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron was eighty-three years old. Still,...
