Psalm 102:18-21 "This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD. (19) For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold the earth; (20) To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death; (21) To declare the name of the LORD in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem"
Repetition is the key to learning. If you can correctly repeat something seven
times in a row, you pretty much have it held in your memory. Throughout the
Bible there seems to be two thoughts that are repeated. The first one is the
fact that God is the Creator of this universe. One such example is found
in Psalm 121:1-2, "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence
cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and
earth." It is important when seeking the help of the Lord that we remember
His sovereign power in creating this beautiful world in which we live. Another
fact to remember is that God has power to deliver His people. The exodus of the
people of Israel from Egypt is repeated many times throughout Scripture. It is
important when seeking the help of the Lord that we remember that His sovereign
power brought Israel out of bondage. Why are these things so important to
remember? First of all, "This shall be written for the generation to come:
and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD." God is
worthy of our praise and these things remembered and applied in our lives bring
forth the proper praise of our Lord. In today's verses we are reminded that our
God looks down upon us. He hears us. And He looses us from our infirmities and
struggles.
How can we know this is true? If our God has power to create, then He has power
over all matters of life. If our God has power to deliver a nation from
bondage, then He has power to deliver us from our troubles and trials. If He
loves us enough to give His only begotten Son to die for our sins, then He
loves us enough to keep us by His power. This morning, I pray that verse 21 is
the result of my thoughts today: "To declare the name of the LORD in Zion,
and his praise in Jerusalem."
Praise Him! Praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer!
Sing, O Earth, His wonderful love proclaim!
Hail Him! Hail Him! Highest archangels in glory;
Strength and honor give to His holy Name!
Like a shepherd, Jesus will guard His children,
In His arms He carries them all day long.
Praise Him! Praise Him! Tell of His excellent greatness;
Praise Him! Praise Him! Ever in joyful song!
