Daily Devotion: Psalm 107:8-9

Psalm 107:8-9    "Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!  (9)  For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness."

If I counted correctly, these words are repeated four times in this Psalm. Each repetition follows an account of the ways in which God delivers our souls from struggles and hardship. Let's look at the first two verses: "O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so..." (Psalm 107:1-2) God's Word instructs us, the redeemed of the Lord, to be vocal about our faith. When I say we are to be vocal about our faith, I'm speaking of being upfront and forward with our praise unto the Lord.

Let the redeemed of the Lord say so! I am redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ; therefore, I want my life to reflect His honor and glory for all that He has done in my life. I want to say that through my words and even more importantly, I need to say that through my actions. In verses 3-7, we are reminded that even when it seems that we are just wandering through life, that our God is with us each step of the way. He provides our every need. "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so!   Our God brings us out of each valley. Life is filled with "ups and downs". We can expect that, but also we can know that our God is with us through every situation and circumstance. He brings us out of darkness into His marvelous light. "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so." In verses 16-20, we see how the Lord is able to brake the bonds that try to hold us in their power. Because of sin and iniquity, we sometimes go through times of spiritual darkness in our lives. "He sent (sends) his word, and healed them (heals us), and delivered them (delivers us) from their (our) destruction." (Psalm 107:20)  Let the redeemed of the Lord say so!  God delivers us when life seems to be tossing us around like a tiny boat on the open sea.  Our Lord is able to speak the word and peace is given to the angry wind and waves. Our hearts and minds become calm through His word to us. "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so!" When struggles of life send dryness into our souls, our God is able to give Living Water and Bread of life that soothes and satisfies our deepest needs. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so!

"Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!  (9)  For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness." Let the redeemed of the Lord say so!

Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it!
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb!
redeemed through His infinite mercy—
His child, and forever, I am.

Redeemed, redeemed,
redeemed by the blood of the Lamb!
Redeemed, redeemed–
His child and forever, I am.

Daily Devotion: Colossians 1:25-26

Colossians 1:25-26    “Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;  Even   the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:” In verse twenty-four, Paul has expressed his joy in bearing hardship for the church. It is of this church, the body of Jesus Christ, that he is made a minister. Since Paul used the phrase “made a minister” in verse twenty-three of this same chapter, it seems there is something important that he wishes to convey. The Greek word translated as “made” means “to cause to be.” It was the will of God (Col 1:1) that caused Paul to become a minister. God is always the cause of true ministry. Although our fathers may be ministers, if we become true ministers of the gospel it is  not  because our fathers are ministers. True ministers of the gospel do not take that path because they seek honor for themselves, or b...

Daily Devotion: Exodus 7:6-10

Exodus 7:6-10    "And Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them, so did they. And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spake unto Pharaoh. And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent. And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent." Moses and Aaron had begun to doubt whether they were right for the job the LORD had given them. Here, it is evident that God granted them a renewal of their faith. Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them. In my opinion, all truly successful outcomes in our lives begin with this. Moses and Aaron were not young men. Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron was eighty-three years old. Still,...
