Daily Devotion: Psalm 119:105

Psalm 119:105    "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

Proverbs 3:5-6    "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  (6)  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

John 14:6    "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

I hope to be able to connect all three passages to make sense. If I ask ten people what is the purpose of the Bible, I would probably receive several different answers. And most, if not all, of those answers would contain some truth. Paul gave the answer in his 2nd letter to Timothy, chapter 3:16-17, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." Notice in all of our Scripture for today that there is one source that is referenced: The Lord.  "Thy word... Trust in the LORD.... Jesus saith.... given by inspiration of God" This tells me that my first point in reading the Bible is to understand that although God inspired men to pen the words, they are indeed the very Word of God. When I am reading the Bible, God Himself is speaking to me. His Word illuminates my life and when applied will navigate me through every situation and circumstance. The Word of God will show me my errors and then instruct me as to how to correct them. He will then place me back on the right path that I may experience righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. But most of all the Word of God points me to Jesus. God does not leave me in the place where only my sins are revealed; rather, He shows me that Jesus Christ made the complete blood atonement for my sins. They are washed away by the blood of Jesus Christ. My sins are forgiven. I have peace with God through Jesus Christ, my Lord. Thank you Father for giving me enlightenment concerning the work of my blessed Lord.

1 More about Jesus would I know,
more of His grace to others show;
more of His saving fullness see,
more of His love who died for me.

Refrain:
More, more about Jesus;
more, more about Jesus;
more of His saving fullness see,
more of His love who died for me.

2 More about Jesus let me learn,
more of His holy will discern.
Spirit of God, my Teacher be,
showing the things of Christ to me. [Refrain]

3 More about Jesus in His Word,
holding communion with my Lord,
hearing His voice in ev'ry line,
making each faithful saying mine. [Refrain]

4 More about Jesus on His throne,
riches in glory all His own;
more of His kingdom's sure increase;
more of His coming, Prince of Peace. [Refrain]

Daily Devotion: Enter With Thanksgiving - Psalm 100:1-5

One of the most beautiful Psalms of Thanksgiving is the 100th Psalm. Please turn to it and read verses one through five. With all my heart I believe we are a people and a nation that has truly been blessed by God. Of all those who “give thanks to Him and praise His name” we should be at the top!  It is not uncommon to compile wish lists at Christmas, and draw up a list of resolutions for the new year. But there is another list we often overlook - a Thanksgiving Day list of all for which we are thankful. What would your list contain? Most likely, a good part would be material possessions. I’m convinced that we would find that we have much more for which to be thankful than just our material possessions.  Like you, I’m sure my list would include the major things - life, health, family, friends, and the nation we live in, despite all its flaws. But even more than that, I’m thankful for my salvation, my Church family, and the mercy that God showers upon us each d...

Daily Devotion: Exodus 7:6-10

Exodus 7:6-10    "And Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them, so did they. And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spake unto Pharaoh. And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent. And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent." Moses and Aaron had begun to doubt whether they were right for the job the LORD had given them. Here, it is evident that God granted them a renewal of their faith. Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them. In my opinion, all truly successful outcomes in our lives begin with this. Moses and Aaron were not young men. Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron was eighty-three years old. Still,...

Daily Devotion: The Peace Of Christ - John 14:27

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. – John 14:27 As I sit and enjoy the Lord's creation and I feel the cool breeze blow across my skin, I am reminded of the peace that we find when we stop to appreciate the works of God. While we cannot necessarily count on another tomorrow in this world, all of God’s children have the assurance of something purer, something brighter, in the world to come. This brings peace when everything seems chaotic and difficult here and now. Jesus Christ was and remains a complex Person. Not only do we have to wrestle with His dual nature, we must face the depth of His teachings. Many of the Lord’s teachings are easy to grasp even if they are hard to apply. (Have you tried loving your enemies lately?) However, some of the Messiah’s sayings make us think very hard indeed. Isaiah 9:6 famously reveals that the virgin born Son of God would be the Prin...
