Daily Devotion (Video): We Grow In Grace Through Our Failures - John 21:15-19

Daily Devotion: Deuteronomy 32:3

Deuteronomy 32:3   "Because I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye greatness unto our God." I admit to you that this chapter is the very one I have been looking forward to since beginning this study of Deuteronomy. There are some beautiful thoughts contained in this chapter that Moses is blessed to share with the people.  In the previous chapters of the book, Moses has been mainly describing the things God commanded the people to do and the reason for them to walk in the light of the law of God. In today's two verses, He is focusing completely upon the goodness of the Lord. He begins these thoughts with proclaiming the goodness of the Lord. "I will publish (proclaim) the name of the Lord." Can we stop for just a moment and let that "distill as the dew" upon our hearts?  We should be at a place in our lives when just the mention of the name of the Lord brings a sweeping peace across our hearts and minds.  Moses is going to speak more concern...

Daily Devotion: Deuteronomy 32:1-3

Deuteronomy 32:1-3    "Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.  (2)  My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass:  (3)  Because I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye greatness unto our God." At this point, Moses has gathered the elders of each tribe together to speak his last words to them.  I remember an attribute of Moses that was spoken about him in Numbers 12:3, "Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth." There seems to be no bitterness whatsoever in him as he takes this time to speak to the people.  He knows his time on earth is very short and he knows the reason why.  He is meek as he declares Joshua will take the people into the land. He is meek just now as he is speaking to the elders of the tribes.  He is meek in the manner that...

Daily Devotion: What Is His Son's Name - Proverbs 30:4

Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son’s name, if thou canst tell? – Proverbs 30:4 By faith we understand and know that Jesus of Nazareth is Christ, the Savior.  A miraculous birth, a tremendous and unparalleled life of Truth, an agonizing torture and death followed by an astounding Resurrection reveal Him.  Jesus  is  the Son of God. Jesus said, “No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him” (John 1:18).  And, “Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father” (John 6:46).  Only Jesus reveals God.  He is the way, the truth, and the life of God in the flesh.  He is the light of God in the world, the radiance of the Almighty.  When asked to explain the king...

Daily Devotion: Deuteronomy 31:16-18

Deuteronomy 31:16-18    "And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.  (17)  Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us?  (18)  And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods." The people will shortly be going into the Promised Land. The Lord has called Moses and Joshua into the tabernacle of the congregation. Here He is telling Moses that he will die shortly and Joshua will be the new leader to take the p...
