Ephesians 3:8-10 “Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,”
Paul displayed a wonderful humility before the people of God. Many would be prone to boast of their powerful experience of grace if dealt with as Paul was on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:3-9). Some would feel prideful if they experienced the vision (or dream) of being caught up into the third heaven (2 Cor 2:12). Instead, Paul saw himself as the least of all the saints and marveled at the grace given to him. Although I have been preaching this same glorious gospel for nearly 48 years, like Paul I marvel at the grace that is given me to preach the unsearchable riches of Christ! I pray to always treat His service with the humility and reverence that He deserves, knowing that I am unworthy of the least of His blessings except in Christ Jesus.
All those that declare the gospel of Jesus Christ soon realize that it is past finding out. We cannot begin to adequately tell of this wonderful Truth and the great depths of His love and mercy. Like Paul, we should be pointing to the participation (which is the Strong’s definition of the word translated as fellowship) that exists in this great mystery of godliness. Serving Him is not a spectator event; fellowship implies participation, not merely attendance. What a joy it is to participate in that which has been hid in God from the beginning of the world.
That this mystery is hid in God does not imply that we know nothing about it. Instead, it highlights that we cannot know anything about this mystery except it be revealed to us by Him through the Holy Ghost. This is part of God’s work in the original formation (created), and Jesus is the channel by which it was created. Again, all things pertaining to God and godliness come to us through Christ.
God calls men to preach the unsearchable riches of Christ for a reason. He causes us to see our participation in the mystery that He keeps in himself for a reason. He gives the revelation that we live, move, and have our being in Him to the intent that those who appear to be religious rulers in places of authority should learn (know) the many facets of God’s wisdom. The avenue of His choosing to now reveal that He is the God of the mountain and the God of the valley, the God of the weak and the God of the strong, that He is indeed Lord of all, is His church.
He shows His mighty arm in the calling out of a people of His choosing to serve Him in the earth. They are His through Jesus Christ, and do not answer to those who deem themselves to be in authority over His children. We have only one King and one Lord. His name is Jesus and God created all things by Him!
May we take comfort in the sure knowledge that we are kept by the wisdom of God in every aspect of our lives according to His purpose in Jesus Christ and the revelation to us of that purpose through the power of the Holy Spirit!
