Isaiah 55:8-9 "For my thoughts are not
your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. (9)
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your
ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."
We must let these words sink deep within us in order to have a more proper
thought concerning our Lord. We are good at making plans. We even try to
think it all the way through and plan for any missteps or misguidances along
the way. "What if this happens? Then I will do this or that. What if it
doesn't come together as we think it will? Then we will back up and try
something else." Yes, we make plans, but we are unable to foresee
any and all instances that would help or hinder our plans to take place.
To that God says, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither
are your ways my ways, saith the LORD." His plans and purpose never meets
with any unexpected struggle or stumbling block. Nothing ever takes God by
surprise.
Our view of any given circumstance or situation is restricted because we only have the horizontal view. We cannot see around the next corner. We have no idea what the next five minutes will hold for us, but we saw back in a previous chapter that our God declares the end from the beginning. Again I say, nothing ever takes God by surprise. We only see horizontal, but God sees the vertical. His view of life is from a heavenly perch. He is already in our tomorrows because He is not restricted by time or space. For this reason, it is absolutely a necessity and a plus for us to always seek the will of God for our lives. As Paul told the Romans, we must constantly renew our minds so that we do not become conformed to the world. Lord, please help us to be transformed by seeking your will, your purpose, your plan for our lives. Your will is good and perfect for us.
